“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.” – Melody Beattie
A few days ago I reached into my coat pocket to grab my keys. Unfortunately, there was a piece of paper in my pocket and instead of my keys, I got a paper cut. Instantly, I felt a surge of pain. “Argh!,” I screamed. People looked at me look I was crazy. I didn’t even care. My life before the paper cut flashed before my eyes. Oh, how I longed for the carefree time from just a few moments ago where I walked through the world without having this affliction. And, it was then that I realized that I wasn’t even grateful for not having the paper cut before I received it. “What else have I not been grateful for, but should be?,” I thought.
TODAY’S PROMPT:
What are some things you are grateful for today? Take a moment to make a list. Try to list things that aren’t so easy to remember, like peripheral vision, the fact that your hands move, the peace you feel when the steam arises above a cup of hot coffee or tea, or toilet paper. And, if you’re lucky enough to not have a paper cut, be grateful for that, too. Share what you’re grateful for by leaving a comment (reading this via email? Click “Read in browser” below).
