“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us. And the world will live as one.” – John Lennon
Sometimes when I sit quietly in the morning and take a moment to see how I’m feeling, I am in awe of the fact that no matter how I feel (angry, sad, lonely, frustrated, peaceful, joyful, etc.), others have felt this very same way. I’m not alone. We have all felt angry, sad, lonely, frustrated, peaceful, joyful, etc. While there has been a lot of divisiveness during this moment in time, there has also been a lot of connectedness. In an interview with Chân Không (closest disciple and collaborator of Vietnamese Zen teacher Thich Nhat Hanh), she sings a beautiful little song about our connectedness. So, I decided to sing with her, just for you. Select the image to listen to the song.
It may be a little difficult to always feel connected to others in this moment, and it may look a little different than normal. One of my friends who loves to dance (with others) is really missing that activity right now. But, she decided to join an online group where she’s able to dance and see friends she’s made all over the country while she participates. If she was dancing in person here in Denver, she simply wouldn’t be able to be with all of these people at the same time. So, that’s something unique about this moment! What about you? What is one way you feel connected to others right now? Share by leaving a comment (reading this via email? Click “Read in browser” below).

I’ve been curling up with my daughter on the couch every night to watch Grey’s Anatomy…I’m a doc, so it brings up lots of stuff for us to talk about. Things from my training, my experiences as a neurologist, the reaction of my program when I told them I was pregnant (which was “Are you going to quit?” To which I said “F*** no!). We never would have spent time together like that if she had something better to do!

How awesome that she’s probably able to connect with you more deeply just because of this strange time! And, Grey’s Anatomy is some good binge watching right about now… 😉

I’m with you Patti. We are the stars of one sky. We are the leaves of one tree. We are wounded right now! Together we will shine brighter. Together we will grow to close the hole in the canopy left by hate. I’m with you.
